My neglected website - Words in the Heroes' Tongue
I have a variable-sword. I urge calm.
My neglected website
For a long time now my website has lain dormant. I haven't posted any fic there since November 2008 simply because doing the html coding is too laborious; it takes as long to do that as it does to write a chapter.

I wanted to do something about that. I've just tried to install eFiction so that I can post stories there as easily as I can at TtH or FF.net.

I failed. I have no clue how to do it and the Readme is no help whatsoever. It's too complicated for me even to know how to ask for help.

I think I might take everything down from the site and just use it as an image holder.

efiction baffled me too, but I don't see how it should take so long to do a webpage, mine take about 10 minutes - copy an existing page, change the titles, copy and paste the text into it, change the font, save then change link on the referring pages. Upload!

Yes, but my chapters are usually at least ten times as long as yours.

speaking purely selfishly I hope you keep the fic up. I can't count the number of times I've recc'd your Noggin & Olaf fics to people, and I really miss your S6 Buffybot-focussed series.

Still under Willow & Tara's spell,

Change your format? I'm as website ignorant as they come (and abandoned the idea of doing the HTML myself after two frustrating days) and I've had a site since 2003 or 4. Even back then there were "website for dummies" options, and as more and more website design programs have become available, it's become easier and easier to update and make the site more user-friendly. I just save my stories as webpages when they're done and use my ftp program to put them on the site. Adding the titles and urls for new stories to my more creative navigation pages is a snap with iWeb and then I ftp those changed pages up and voila! Done and done.
Woudn't something like that work for you? A home page with links to the fics, and saved as webpages pages for each story? Boring black and white pages, to be sure, but the banners save along with the words and the words are what's important, right?

I've tried saving them as webpages but they just come out as a mess.

How did efiction fail when you tried to install it?

There doesn't seem to be any way of installing software on my site except for some programs provided by the host with built-in installers. Perhaps I could upload every single file individually but there are hundreds upon hundreds of them (it won't upload folders). It would take weeks.
