Happy birthday to winsomeone and to wickedplum21

During the night hours between one a.m. and six a.m. Manx Radio plays music on shuffle from a hard disc. No human DJ, no introductions, and so there’s nothing to tell you who is performing. This week they’ve been featuring a cover of Dead Or Alive’s ‘You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)’, from the Eighties, performed by a female singer who seems to fall into the same classification as Leslie Feist or Regina Spektor. I’m sure that I’ve heard the voice before; slightly American accented, somehow deep and high both at the same time, but I can’t place it. It’s very different from the original version; not electro-pop at all, slowed right down and turned into something quirky and unusual. Nine times out of ten I can find out anything that I want to know on Google in seconds – I’m a fourth Dan black belt at Google-fu – but not this time. Anyone have any ideas?

ETA: booster17 has found it. Thea Gilmore. The slight American accent must be fake as she's from Oxfordshire.
