Reindeer Games
The bar was the primary hang-out for perhaps the smallest ethnic group in Los Angeles; Sámi immigrants from the Arctic North of Scandinavia. The Sámi dancers, in their traditional knee-length frock coats of bright blue fringed with red and gold, gyrated and circled and stamped their reindeer-skin boots to the sounds of joik chanting and the beating of reindeer-hide drums.
Spike stared around the bar with his eyebrows raised in bemusement. “You know,” he said to Lorne, “this isn’t quite what I thought you meant when you suggested that we go out to a club that specialized in Lapp dancing.”
