I have a variable-sword. I urge calm.
The Water Margin is back!
OMG Squee they are reshowing "The Water Margin"! Right from the first episode! Starting on ITV4 RIGHT NOW (19.00 BST). The greatest TV show EVER! Lin Chung! Hu San Niang (ultimate kick-ass female, Buffy eat your heart out)! Kao Chiu! "Do not despise the snake for having no horns, for who is to say he will not one day become a dragon?"

Everybody in the UK with digital TV watch it!

PS Happy Birthday Essi! (el_payasito)

Nah. Monkey was way better.

Monkey was too silly, and the only female recurring character was supposed to be a man.

I have it on tape, but I say "Yay!" for everyone else who hasn't.

I've got the whole series on VHS and on DVD; I don't have any use for the videos any more and I haven't done anything about selling them. You can have the boxed set if you like.

Missed it, but fortunately I have the first couple of episodes on laserdisc.

Speaker you Squee'd!? Please tell me it was a deep and manly squee and not the Dawn-esque 'OMG squee' I'm imagining! LOL

Having never seen the show in question I can't really cast my vote one way or the other... but I DID love Monkey.

My thoughts exactly, but I've never seen either show. If it deserves your Squee! then I'd better look into it!

I've read about The Water margin but have never seen it, despite the fact it sounds like just the sort of thing I'd like. I may to investigate the DVDs.

Obviously, we are sorely lacking in quality entertainment here.

...No word.

I don't especially like it. I prefer Monkey as you said (we call it The Jouney West), and The Three Kingdom over it.

There's a saying "Don't let the young read The Water Margin because they'd learn to rebel. Don't let the old read The Three Kingdom because they'd be even more slyer."

PS. I'd volunteer to provide DVDs, but they are Chinese...

We had ITV 4 for about five minutes in April (to replace Granada Plus) then the axed that too. Grrrr! Stupid Sky TV! You are the Kao Chiu of satellite broadcasters!

I love hearing Miriam Margoles's voice coming out of Hu San Niang's mouth. Burt Kwok has a few top class moments too.

Sorry. That was me. LJ hates me. Now it's not only logging me out randomly between typing comments and posting them but defaulting to the other online user in the house instead. I didn't even know it could do that.
