Yo ho Sebastian...
Call me Ishmael Xander

I had the more in-depth eye test on Wednesday. My left eye is fine; my vision in it has actually improved since my last test two and a half years ago, which of course meant that my with-glasses sight wasn’t as good but with new glasses I’ll be able to see perfectly.

My right – well, I don’t have cataracts, or macular degeneration. I have damage to the surface of the eye which I strongly suspect stems from when Shaka scratched me in the eyeball. I will have to go to hospital for further tests.

I have no idea if it is treatable but at least it’s not any of the really worrying things.

Good to hear. Better an injury, even if it leaves permanent damage, than one of the progressive and can-spread-to-the-other-eye things.

Glad to hear that it isn't macular degeneration. Hope the damage turns out to be treatable or something the eye can repair on its own.

I know the feeling - I have one reasonably good eye and one not so wonderful, went through a period of diagnosis and it turned out that they're that way without anything particularly serious being wrong. So it goes.

My eyes have always been bad - but up to now glasses have brought them up to a decent standard. This is the first time I've had a problem glasses couldn't fix.

Oh *good*. One eye being fine is brilliant news, whatever's going on with the other. And not facing those miserable things is excellent (my dad has macular degeneration, fortunately slow, but still no picnic).

Thank goodness it is not something horrible, although of course a scratch on the eye is bad enough!

An injury is always better than some unpleasant disease. Here's hoping that a quick fix will make everything right again.

That's good news. If it is a wound, it is sure to be mendable. The surface of the eye is the fastest healing tissue in the body.

It must be over two and a half years ago that Shaka scratched my eye - he's been dead for a year. There must be scarring, I presume.

Ow. I hope they can do something for the right eye, but at least your left is Ok, which is a Jolly Good Thing.
