Illyria Drabble: Conversations About Dead People
They ought to make it illegal to cover Snow Patrol songs. First there was abomination that is the Leona Lewis version of ‘Run’; now I’ve just heard Natasha Bedingfield massacring ‘Chasing Cars’. I think seven years hard labour would be about the right punishment.

Even though it’s only 12 hours since I posted the previous part, For I much desire to speak with her, I’m posting another section of my post-NFA Illyria drabble/ficlet series. Previous parts are HERE. 200 words, PG-13 for language.

Conversations About Dead People

“You didn’t even tell me.” The intensity of the glare that Willow directed at Giles was satisfying to Illyria. “Fred was my friend,” Willow’s eyes darkened, “and you just let her die.”

“And Angel. And Wes.” Faith showed her teeth. “Fuck you, Giles.”

Giles stood up very straight. “I had good reasons.”

Illyria had to use the shell’s memories to interpret body language. She determined that Faith was seething with anger and struggling to hold herself back from striking Giles. Willow crackled with energy.

“Good reasons?” Willow shook her head. “Color me stupid, maybe, but you’re gonna have to explain them to me really slow ‘cause somehow I’m not seeing how there could be any good reason for not telling me they were asking for my help saving Fred. And I never thought I was stupid.”

“That goes for me too,” Faith added. “You know what Angel did for me, what I did to Wes, what I owed both of them. I’d have died for them, you know that, Giles, and you didn’t fucking tell me!”

This was all in accordance with Illyria’s plan. And yet somehow… unsatisfactory. The emptiness inside her was undiminished. The loss, and the pain, remained.

I have a nasty feeling that she'll get her revenge and decide it wasn't worth it.

It won't bring Wesley and the others back.

I'd contribute to a fund to outlaw people covering Snow Patrol songs. Especially pop singers :;shudders::

This is an interesting world; looking forward to more!

And still the third female to be heard from! Glad Willow and Faith are reacting this way though. I think they would have been quite angry that they had not been told a thing and had the option to help.

Another fine installment!

The third female is of no importance to Illyria and so is being ignored. It's just Kennedy.

Thank you!

Willow and Faith reacted quite convincingly. I wait to learn the identity of the third female.

It's only Kennedy, who is of no importance to Illyria and so is being ignored.

Aha. But Kennedy is usually very outspoken whether or not people want to hear what she has to say.

In a drabble series no-one can hear you say anything that doesn't fit into the 100-word (or, in this case, 200-word) limit and advance the story.

Ah, I hadn't considered the word limits.

Damn! She'd have probably been feeling more vindicated if she hadn't been infected with human emotion. But then, if she hadn't been infected with human emotion, she wouldn't have felt the need for vindication. So circuitously confusing to be Illyria.

Looking forward to whatever it is you want to have happen to Giles.

Through Illyria's eyes, you painted a vivid picture of Faith in full on snarl, bitterly swearing at Giles. I could feel her quivering with rage.

I hope Illyria's pesky human emotions don't get in the way of the smiting!
