Drabble: Deer Girl
The Buffyverse has its own mythology but Judeo-Christian concepts seem to be at the heart of the way things work. But suppose they weren’t? What if, say, Hinduism had the answers to the great questions of Life, Death, and the Universe? Here is a Bargaining Part 1 drabble based on that idea. 100 words, not humour, PG=13, character death.

Deer Girl

There was a lot to be said for reincarnation. In her new form Buffy knew complete peace. She did not remember her former life, as many of the concepts associated with humanity did not transfer over, but she was conscious of a permanent sense of relief. There was no need to fight any more.

All was gentleness and tranquillity as she approached the human girl. Something about the red-haired figure was familiar and conveyed a message of ‘friend’.

Buffy trotted up to the girl, opened her large eyes wide, and nuzzled at the human’s hand.

Then Willow cut her throat.

Love it, though I knew the ending from the first line!

Thank you! Part of the inspiration for this might have come from your 'Buffy the pit pony' story.

That makes a lot of sense in Hindu terms, and keeps Willow's action as unethical as it is in canon. Interesting idea.

Eeep. I think you've actually managed to make Willow's choices in Bargaining even more awful than in canon!

Excellent. It raises all the cannon issues of Buffy having been completely at peace only to have it ripped away (literally) by Willow's actions.

I like this. I've used the idea that what Buffy believed was heaven was a womb. This is a lot neater.

You said not humor but I sort of laughed anyway.

Yep, that's the way it would be. Poor Buffy, just couldn't catch a break at that point - and Willow, messing things up as usual (at that point - not always, of course).

My Willow... kills Bambi (and Buffy).
pfeifferpack From: pfeifferpack Date: July 17th, 2007 10:07 pm (UTC) (Link)
Oh yes...Willow would mess up Buffy's reward in every possible way. Poor little fawn, now even more tragic that we "know" her better! Just think of the Karma Willow is incurring!

This was excellently awful. Or, awfully excellent. Awful, in that I feel even worse about poor Buffy's quest for peace and the irony of Willow's actually killing her to get the ingredient needed to bring her back - ouch! Well done, as usual. (That's the excellent part.)

Brilliant. Ties everything up nicely and doesn't even really break canon.

It's taken me 8 months to reply to you because I didn't get an LJ notification at the time and I only noticed it when someone commented today.

I'm a little (well, extremely) late in replying to this because I didn't get an advice from LJ and I've only just noticed it.
