Drabble: Vampires Hate Gaelic
Not sure if I’ll get the next chapter of ‘Tabula Avatar’ up tonight or not. It’s nearly finished, but I haven’t come up with a good closing section yet.

In the meantime, and continuing my tradition of stupid drabbles, here is a Season 7 BtVS drabble inspired by one of the comments to my last one. 100 words, PG.

Vampires Hate Gaelic

“I’ve discovered that the First Evil has a vulnerability,” Giles announced. “It is susceptible to the frequencies in a certain human vocal sound.”

“What sound?” Willow asked. “If it’s singing opera, count me out.”

“Not singing. Actually, it’s the groans that people make on hearing a particularly bad joke. Xander will be our prime weapon.”

Xander’s jokes were not sufficiently awful, alas, and the First was weakened but not destroyed.

“We’ll have to regroup and come back with reinforcements,” Giles declared.

“Perhaps I can help,” volunteered Potential Slayer Ailsa MacLeod from the Isle of Skye. “I have a punning clan.”

At the end of the day, the groans have grown.

Great Puns, S2C, great puns! :-)

Groan-worthy, perhaps. But also lots of fun!

Great job yet again! :)

A Man for All Seasons you are. You do spoonerisms too! Loud groans emerge. That ought to send The First Evil running.

I'd ask if she had any male family members named Baldrick, but he's not from her neck of the woods.

It's been a while since I've seen you pun (maybe I missed it). It's good to see.

You've got The First reeling on the ropes. A couple more like that and it won't even be able to get up after a slow ten-count.

Ack! I knew it was going to be bad, but... You just can't prepare for that sort of thing! *giggles so very hard*

Aha so YOU were the secret weapon against the First!

Giles was just humouring Buffy when he said her idea of power-sharing was bloody brilliant, Americans know nothing about the damage pun-power can inflict (all over the keyboard this morning). Bet he had a few loaded turnips shashed about his person too.

This was fabulous -- I really needed this. It got no groans from me, but two belly-laughs: the title and the last line. Thank you, sir.

This made me laugh instead of groan, I don't think it was that bad

Pun attacks! Awesome.

I wrote this story for last year's Point-and-Laugh ficathon: Sticks and Stones. I think you'll get a kick out of it, if you haven't read it yet.

Groan! What do you mean Xander's jokes weren't bad enough?
quinara From: quinara Date: March 7th, 2006 03:31 pm (UTC) (Link)
*snort* - I'm back to that because there is no other response! :)

Oh good grief. Groan. No, make that GROAN.

But brilliant too.

*groan* That took me, like, 10 minutes to get. ("Punning clan? What's funny about that? Maybe if I say it really fast it sounds like something dirty. Punningclanpunningclanpunningclan...nope...)

In my defense, I was distracted by your insertion of a Potential who was very clearly a thinly-veiled version of me. (My name's Alice McLeod.)
